A Wise Man or a Fool - which are you?

Prov  29:9  When a wise man has a controversy with a fool, The fool either rages or laughs, and there is no rest.

When you find yourself in a controversy or disagreement over a scriptural topic do you talk it through in an attempt to arrive at the truth of the matter? Or do you either laugh at the mere suggestion that you might be mistaken, or get upset, or rage, when you see that you are mistaken.

Prov 1:5  A wise man will hear and increase in learning, And a man of understanding will acquire wise counsel,

Prov 9:8  Do not reprove a scoffer, or he will hate you, Reprove a wise man and he will love you.

When someone tells you in a respectable, loving manner, that what you’re doing or believing in not acceptable in the eyes of Yahuweh do you find yourself getting upset, or hating the one telling you, or do you thank the person for bringing it to your attention?

Prov 9:9  Give instruction to a wise man and he will be still wiser, Teach a righteous man and he will increase his learning.

Are you able to be “taught“?  There are literally 100’s of denominations (different groups) in the world today among Christianity and Judaism, all of them believing they have the “truth” and unwilling to examine even the possibility of whether they might be wrong or not.  Are you among them? Are you willing to be corrected or “taught”?

Prov 12:15  The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, But a wise man is he who listens to counsel.

Prov 14:16  A wise man is cautious and turns away from evil, But a fool is arrogant and careless.

When ‘evil’ appears in front of you would you even recognize it? What if Satan or one of his agents appearing as a flattering, smooth talking ‘minister’ telling you not to be concerned about the sin in your life, you’ll be saved on Judgment Day regardless. Would you turn away from him or her, or would you be arrogant and careless and embrace this person as a ‘teacher’ or ‘minister’.

Prov 26:12  Do you see a man wise in his own eyes? There is more hope for a fool than for him.

If you think you know it all and are unable to be taught, then there is more hope for the fool than for you.

The good news is you still have time to change. -  Reuven
